Sardines are named after the island of Sardinia. Found in shoals throughout the Atlantic and Mediterranean, sardines have a silver skin and a rich-flavoured flesh that is dark in colour.
They are particularly versatile when it comes to cooking, lending well to frying, grilling, curing, salting and smoking. Sardines are not just tasty, they're very rich in omega-3 fatty acids and B vitamins.
Sardines are small, weighing an average of just 20-30g each, so the total weight of 20 fish will be between 400-600g.
