Whole plaice


Plaice is a striking flat fish speckled with distinctive orange spots Its spots are often used as an indication of freshness - the brighter the orange, the fresher the fish is likely to be.


These plaice weigh around 250-350g* and are supplied as whole fish to cook on the bone, or fillet at home.


Its subtle flavour and juicy flesh respond well to simple cooking, either grilled or fried, and served with a light sauce, and also excellent when breadcrumbed and gently pan-fried.

Fresh means fresh

We deliver high-quality fresh fish to your door either the day it's caught (for locally-landed Sussex fish) or within 1-2 days if it's from elsewhere in the UK. Unlike a lot of supermarket fish, ours has never been previously frozen, so you're guaranteed that fresh means fresh.


Seasonal & UK-sourced

We select fresh fish in season from within the UK - as much as possible comes from our local Sussex waters. This means our fish has fewer food miles than non-UK fish so it reaches you fresher, has a lower environmental impact and isn't frozen on its journey to you.


Plastic-free sustainable packaging

We use plant-based, compostable packaging for our fresh fish paper wrapping, labels and bags. You can freeze your fresh fish in the paper it arrives in and, when you have finished with it, add it to your food waste bin, compost bin or garden compost and it will break down into organic material in a matter of weeks.

We deliver free every Friday and Saturday - we have a range of pre-bookable time-slots for your postcode.

  • How should I store my fish?

    Fresh fish is best enjoyed when eaten straight away, or within 2 days. Store in your fridge and make sure that all fish is in covered containers.


    Alternatively, to freeze your fish, place it straight in the freezer upon delivery - remember that oily fish does not freeze as well as white fish, so be sure to consume within 2 months. Write the date on the packaging before freezing. Do not re-freeze your fish after defrosting.
